History of the Department
Physics Department was established in the year 1965.Prof. V.R.DamodaraKaimal was the first Head of our Department. In the beginning, our Department offered only Pre-Degree courses. In the year 1980, BSc. Degree course in Physics was started. This year i.e. 2007, our Department is presenting the 25th U.G batch at the university Examinations.
In 1995, Our Department became a Post -graduate Department. MSc Degree course was introduced in our Department.
Prof.K.K.Indiravallabhan was the Head of the Department at that time. Our department has been consistently producing good results at the University Examinations. Three of our faculty members are engaged in research work, training publications in reputed Journals.

  • A state level workshop on Physics-facts and fancies
Alumni and their activities.
Alumni Association conducted a meeting to honour the retired teachers of our Department, called "Guruvandanam". At the meeting, the members suggested Several programmes for the benefit of economically backward students. The teachers agreed to associate with the Alumni to raise funds for this purpose. At the meeting it was decided to award cash prizes to students scoring highest marks at Bsc and MSc examinations.
